Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy has obtained full accreditation from both URAC and the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC). The URAC Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation 5.0 program recognized Walgreens, with the accreditation remaining effective from February 1, 2025, to January 1, 2028. The ACHC accreditation covers additional community-based Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy locations, effective from December 17, 2024, to June 28, 2027.

URAC, an independent healthcare accrediting body, is known for establishing quality standards within the industry, while ACHC is an internationally recognized organization committed to quality patient care. These accreditations reflect Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy's commitment to quality care, emphasizing the importance of adhering to national specialty pharmacy standards.

Tracey James, Chief Operating Officer of Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy, stated, "At Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy, we’re proud to continue our relationship with both URAC and ACHC to better serve our patients. These accreditations are a testament to our commitment to providing our Specialty Pharmacy patients with safe and compliant care."

Walgreens serves nearly 300 million covered lives nationwide, offering specialized services and medications for patients with complex diseases such as cancer and cystic fibrosis. Walgreens specialty pharmacists possess additional training to manage unique medication requirements, including storage and administration needs.

As a non-profit, URAC was founded in 1990 and focuses on healthcare quality and patient safety. It collaborates with industry experts to develop evidence-based standards. ACHC, another non-profit with 35 years of experience, provides accreditation solutions and focuses on enhancing quality care and business efficiencies for healthcare providers.
