IBM has announced the inclusion of IBM Storage Ceph as a Service into its portfolio of flexible, as-a-service solutions designed for on-premises infrastructure management. This announcement adds to their existing services, such as IBM Power delivered as a service, which offers new form factors and consumption flexibility.

A study by IDC projects that by 2028, the consumption model of IT services will be dominated by as-a-service offerings for essential workloads, driven by demands for optimized IT spending and improved operational efficiency. IBM seeks to meet this trend by providing IBM Storage Ceph via an as-a-service model, enabling clients to effectively combine cloud-based solutions with on-premises systems.

McLeod Glass, VP of Growth and Innovation Programs at IBM Infrastructure, stated, "The need for seamless, automated operations is an increasing priority as organizations leverage AI capabilities, shift to digital infrastructure, and adopt new delivery models. Delivering IT built on infrastructure as a service is key to unlocking the power of flexibility, speed, and ease of consumption."

IBM introduces IBM Storage Ceph as a Service to allow clients to use the unified software-defined storage as a cloud-like experience on-premises, helping organizations address data silos and modernize storage for data lakes or virtual machines. This fully-managed service by IBM is intended to offer cloud storage's scale, flexibility, and efficiency to data centers, relieving IT teams from the burdensome task of managing Ceph clusters.

Sam Werner, VP of IBM Storage Product Management, shared, "With data being the lifeblood of any organization, data storage plays a critical role in every workstream, but it shouldn't be as challenging as it is for IT teams to manage. With IBM Storage Ceph as a Service, we're taking on the headache for our clients, expediting the provisioning and streamlining the management of storage resources."

In addition to storage solutions, IBM has been advancing the IBM Power Virtual Server platform aimed at maintaining business continuity and security. This platform supports mission-critical applications and enables businesses to extend and secure their on-premises infrastructures more efficiently. National Van Lines, a client, has leveraged the IBM Power Virtual Server with strong results, including improved disaster recovery times and cost savings.

Greg Moore, VP of IT at National Van Lines, commented, "IBM Power Virtual Server is a solid, secured, and reliable solution, so much so that we're now going through the same process with the National Forwarding business unit. It works and we're so confident in it that we're implementing it in other areas of our business."

IBM's as-a-service solutions are designed to minimize operational costs by aligning spending with actual usage, enabling scalable growth and reducing risk and complexity. This approach reflects IBM's commitment to simplifying and accelerating IT transformation for enterprises.

Further information about the IBM Storage Ceph as a Service and the IBM Power Virtual Server can be found on IBM's official website.
