Today, Isabel Casillas Guzman, the Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), announced the commencement of the SBA’s second Season of Small Business campaign. Guzman, who represents small businesses in President Biden’s Cabinet, emphasized the significance of small enterprises in the national economy.
"In the last four years, America has seen unprecedented entrepreneurialism with a record 20 million business applications filed since President Biden took office," said Guzman. She highlighted that these businesses come from diverse backgrounds but share a common belief in potential and hope.
Guzman also pointed out America's strong consumer spending over recent years and projected an increase during this holiday season compared to last year’s $955.6 billion. She stated, "The holidays are the busiest time of the year for so many small businesses that rely on the surge to meet their annual revenue goals."
The Administrator encouraged consumers to support local businesses by shopping and dining locally during this period, noting that "two-thirds of every dollar spent at a small business goes back into your community."
Small businesses contribute significantly to local economies, accounting for more than 40% of America's economic output and two-thirds of net new jobs. The past four years have seen a boom in small business creation with over 20 million new applications nationwide.
