Northern Kentucky University's women's volleyball team faced a setback on Friday night, losing to Green Bay in a three-set match. The Norse, who are aiming for a spot in the Horizon League Championship, were unable to break their current losing streak with this defeat.
The match took place at the Kress Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Northern Kentucky's record now stands at 9-15 overall and 5-8 in the Horizon League, while Green Bay improved to 10-15 overall and 7-6 in the league.
In terms of individual performances, Sydney Bray contributed significantly with an attacking line of 12-4-24 and added four digs. Joy Banks led Northern Kentucky with 13 kills. Lucy Cluxton was notable for her defensive play, leading both teams with 20 digs. Lainey Green topped the assists chart for the Norse with 27.
The sets were closely contested but ultimately ended in favor of Green Bay with scores of 25-22, 25-20, and 25-22. In the first set, Northern Kentucky had a brief lead at 17-14 before Green Bay's momentum shifted following a four-point run. The second set saw NKU take an early lead at 5-2; however, another run by Green Bay turned the tide. The third set followed a similar pattern as both teams competed fiercely until Green Bay secured their victory.
Northern Kentucky will have another opportunity against Green Bay on Saturday at 3 PM in their final road match of the regular season.
