State Farm has reported receiving approximately 96,300 claims following the impact of Hurricane Helene across 14 states. The claims predominantly involve auto damage due to flooding and rising waters, as well as homeowner claims related to wind damage. Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, and North Carolina have the highest number of claims.
In response to the disaster, State Farm is contributing $1.25 million in disaster grant funding to support organizations such as the American Red Cross, Convoy of Hope, Midwest Food Bank, and Feeding the Carolinas. This funding aims to provide immediate relief for essential needs like food supplies, hygiene items, and emergency shelter.
The State Farm Catastrophe Team was deployed ahead of the storm to prepare for a strategic response. They are currently on-site assisting residents with recovery efforts. Alongside them are local State Farm agents and thousands of employees from centralized care centers who are virtually supporting customers by answering questions and processing claims.
State Farm has set up several Customer Care Sites where affected individuals can file claims and receive assistance. These sites require appointments for vehicle inspections. Locations include parking lots at Home Depot in St. Petersburg, FL; Five Points Shopping Center in Valdosta, GA; Lowe’s Home Improvement in Douglas and Aiken; Carolina Pottery in Augusta; Haywood Mall in Greenville; Westgate Regional Shopping Center in Asheville; among others.
To streamline claim processing, State Farm is utilizing technology for virtual claim handling options. Customers can file and track their claims via mobile devices or computers by submitting photos or videos electronically and participating in video calls with claim representatives when possible.
Residents affected by Hurricane Helene are encouraged to file their claims promptly through various channels including the State Farm mobile app, contacting their agent directly by phone or email, calling 1-800-SFCLAIM, visiting statefarm.com/claims or texting “CLAIM” to 62789.
