Amazon’s 2023 Small Business Empowerment Report showed that its network of independent sellers in the United States grew sales to more than 4.5 billion items, averaging more than $250,000 in annual sales. Sellers in Ohio are among those enjoying the growth.

According to an article published on Amazon’s site, the report highlights that Amazon independent sellers employ over 1.8 million people in the United States. These jobs span management, operations, and support positions. It also revealed that sellers in rural areas, including Alaska, Florida, Kansas, North Dakota, and Utah, combined experienced more than 60% year-over-year sales growth.

Amazon's annual small business empowerment report highlights how the company assists small businesses in expanding their reach, according to Spectrum News. In Ohio, 11,000 independent sellers averaged $230,000 in annual sales selling over 76 million items. Companies like eleeo Brands, which produces Boogie Wipes and Dapple dish soap in Cincinnati, benefit from Amazon's platform by reaching a national audience and testing new products without competing for shelf space.

"Amazon enables small companies like ours to have a national and even a global reach with consumers," CEO of eleeo Brands Richard Palmer told Spectrum News. "And it really has changed retail by enabling us to work directly with the moms and dads who buy our products."
