WASHINGTON – SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman led a roundtable at the White House to mark the beginning of the 2024 National Small Business Week. The event aimed to announce the release of the SBA’s Fiscal Year 2023 Procurement Scorecard and showcase the Biden-Harris Administration's dedication to supporting small businesses since taking office.
Administrator Guzman, alongside National Economic Council Director Lael Brainard and White House Domestic Policy Advisor Neera Tanden, highlighted the achievements in small business contracting. The SBA Administrator revealed that the administration surpassed its FY23 small business contracting goal, allocating a groundbreaking 28.4% of federal contract dollars to small businesses, amounting to a record-breaking $178.6 billion investment.
In addition, Guzman emphasized the positive impact on the economy, stating that this investment supports over one million jobs in various crucial industries. She also pointed out the increased contracting dollars for minority-owned businesses, demonstrating the administration's commitment to equity and growth within the small business sector.
The roundtable included procurement officials from top-performing agencies and small business owners who have secured contracts with the federal government. The General Services Administration, Department of Commerce, and Department of the Interior were praised for their A+ grades in the SBA’s FY23 Scorecard.
