As the trend of remote working locations continues to rise, Wilmette has welcomed a new co-working space that doubles as a social club. Having opened its doors early this month, Enclave Wilmette will be hosting a grand opening event for the community to enjoy.
Enclave Wilmette opened its doors on May 1 and is proud to begin serving the North Shore at an additional location in the area. The co-working lounge and social club strives to be more than just a place of work, but also a place of community and socialization. Enclave offers a variety of workspace options, including private phone rooms, shared spaces and conference rooms to reserve for larger meetings, while the lounge area offers comfortable couches and social spaces for a more relaxed feel.
"Wilmette has been incredibly welcoming. We're lucky to have members like Chikako Eickbush from Torino, and George and Karen Rafeedie of Tell Your Story. There is an enormous amount of civic pride here and we are excited to contribute to the community," Ariana Serna, Head of Sales & Marketing at Enclave, told Illinois Business Daily.
With locations across the Chicago-area, the company believes that bringing Enclave to the North Shore provides a solution for parents who are looking for a productive workspace close to home, entrepreneurs who are looking to connect with fellow business owners, and neighbors who are looking for social events and a sense of community, Serna said.
As the work-from-home lifestyle has become increasingly more common for many Americans, so too has the availability of shared spaces. The number of home-based workers in America more than tripled from 2019 to 2021, according to an American Community Survey released last month by the U.S. Census Bureau. The percentage rose from 5.7% of total workers in 2019 (roughly 9 million workers) to 17.9% in 2021 (about 27.6 million workers), the report shows. According to Crain's Chicago Business, as of 2020, the number of co-working spaces in the City was forecast to nearly triple by the end of 2023.
Enclave gives people a place where they can work, make connections and get to know the people around them during the work day, while at night and on the weekends, members can share a glass of their favorite alcoholic beverage that they bring with them to the bar or lounge, entertain friends or host happy hours for colleagues, Serna told the Naperville Sun. Coworking membership prices begin at $100 per month, which provides members access to the conference room, phone rooms, the main area, coffee, tea and high-speed internet, and offers a chance to join social events at all Enclave locations.
Wilmette is Enclave's sixth location that's opened its doors to the public, as the space started in Glen Ellyn and then expanded into Downers Grove, Oak Park, Arlington Heights and Highland Park. The next location is expected to be in Naperville, which plans to open its doors this month as well.
