Gasbarre Products will be expanding its operations in Elk County by leasing a new location in St. Marys, and also relocating its Plymouth, Michigan facility to the new, larger facility.
The industrial furnace manufacturer will be investing $5.8 million into this project, while leasing a 150,000 square-foot facility located at 835 Washington Street, according to information released by Gov. Tom Wolf’s office on October 26. This is triple the size of where Gasbarre currently operates at State Street. The project will create and retain 172 total jobs in multiple counties across Pennsylvania.
“Our investment in the new facility in St. Marys provides an opportunity for Gasbarre to continue to grow and flourish where we have manufactured for nearly 50 years,” said Gasbarre CEO Alex Gasbarre. “The work ethic and skills provided by past, current, and future Gasbarre team members provide a strong base for this move. We look forward to adding new team members in the coming months when the move process is completed. The people of Elk County and St. Marys will be key to our success.”
According to the release, Gasbarre received a Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) funding proposal for a Pennsylvania First Grant totaling $64,000. The company is creating 16 new jobs at the new location over a three-year period while retaining 156 existing employees at facilities in St. Marys, Philipsburg in Centre County and also Dubois and Olanta in Clearfield County.
“With four locations here, Gasbarre has a nearly 50-year presence in Pennsylvania,” said DCED Sec. Neil Weaver. “We’re very pleased to support the company’s newest expansion as they continue to grow and thrive in the commonwealth.”
The Governor’s Action Team, which is made up of economic development professional that work with businesses looking to expand, coordinated this project. Over the past seven years, there has been nearly $18 million invested by Wolf through GAT. This has resulted in 431 completed projects, at least 48,000 new jobs and retaining more than 145,400 jobs.
“My administration remains committed to investing in businesses that want to grow here or set up shop in Pennsylvania,” said Wolf. “Gasbarre is creating and retaining good paying jobs in some of our rural counties and helping to boost our competitive manufacturing industry – a true win for the commonwealth.”
Gasbarre Products was founded in 1973 and has its headquarters in DuBois.
