(Sponsored Content--) Freelancers looking for more schedule flexibility and convenience may find it with Uber, which enables drivers to set their own schedules that suit their lifestyles and obligations.

Lance Hutchinson found working with Uber to be an ideal match because he could customize his work schedule to his routine.

"It worked so well for me because I'm a morning person and I wake up very early and it's something I can do," Hutchinson said. "Those wee hours of the morning, that's productive and I'm performing a service that's needed that hour of the morning."

Hutchinson also said Uber's flexible scheduling system allows him to avoid working heavy traffic hours.

"There are a lot of people getting off the night shift, going home or going to work, especially medical workers in Tallahassee; so it gets very, very busy," Hutchinson said. "It was the flexibility that was important to me."

MBO Partners reports 59% of male gig workers and 74% of female freelancers say they enjoy working independently because of the flexibility this type of work offers. Freelance statistics show that the majority of independent workers aim to stay independent, and 54% of men and 43% of women earn more money working as freelancers.

"Independent gig workers (such as online platform workers and independent contractors) experience high levels of work-life balance, flexibility, autonomy, meaningful feedback and creative freedom," a 2018 Gallup poll states. "In fact, they score much higher on all these factors compared with traditional workers and other types of gig workers."

Uber operates in 10,000 locations in 71 countries, with 16 million journeys each day and 101 million monthly active platform users as of June 2021.

The company reports that as of December 2020, it had paid $142 billion in total payments to its drivers and delivery personnel since its establishment in March 2009.
