Candles by Flaytz are “handmade with love,” the company says on its website.

“The inspiration behind Flatyz was to create a beautiful, unique handmade candle that could easily be gifted inside a card or sent in the mail," Flatyz USA brand manager Lauren Aerni told Illinois Business Daily.

One of the places the Chicago-based company chose to sell its candles is The Grommet.

“We knew The Grommet would bring our target market to our candles and help get our name out there to the right customers- valuable shoppers seeking unique, thoughtful gifts,” Aerni said. It is different from sites like Amazon or Etsy.

"The Grommet is a curated collection of unique gift items," Aerni said. " It’s a one-stop-shop for all your small gifting needs. Amazon and Etsy take a bit more research to find a worthy item, but I know customers look to the Grommet as a trustworthy source."

The Grommet gives “entrepreneurs, innovators, and creators a platform to showcase their big ideas,”  according to its website. “The Grommet is the ONLY platform that supports makers, innovators and entrepreneurs launching their product, protecting their intellectual property, helping build their brand and providing an efficient, economical platform where the Makers don’t face exuberant sellers fees.”

Sellers on the popular Etsy platform are striking this week over increased transaction fees, an increase of 1.5%, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Amazon has been criticized for collecting data from third-party sellers and then use that data to replicate consumer goods - essentially counterfeiting some argue, Reuters reported.
