A luxury housing facility has broken ground in Chandler, and the 420-unit residential apartment community will be known as Town Chandler.

Town Chandler was designed by Todd and Associates, with McShane Construction Company serving as the general contractor; The Related Group, developer of the project, said in a recent KTAR news release.

"Todd & Associates brings architecture to life with an unrelenting drive to break through the limits of what's possible," Todd & Associates officials said. "It all begins with passionate, creative professionals with a genuine desire to understand the clients' unique needs and contribute to their overall success. We then deliver customized solutions that integrate the disciplines of architecture, planning and landscape architecture to create a strong sense of place for each community. It's this philosophy that has built a legacy of strong relationships with builders, clients and partners since 1981."

Some of the first units will be available by next summer, the KTAR release said.

"All of our projects are designed to attract and inspire Arizona residents seeking a new type of urban living," Michael D'Andrea, the developer's southwest regional vice president, said in the KTAR release. "We are excited to be expanding The Related Group's footprint in the greater Phoenix area."

Additional projects for the contractor include a 388-unit property in Phoenix, a 286-unit property in Scottsdale and two other Scottsdale properties that add up to over 600 additional units.

"People continue to move to Chandler for employment opportunities and to enjoy a high quality of life," Mayor Kevin Kartke said in the KTAR release. "Town Chandler adds to the diverse mix of housing options available in our community."

Chandler is one of the best cities in Arizona to live and is rated No. 2 for best places to raise a family, a report on Niche.com said. The average cost of rent in the Phoenix suburb is $1,312 a month.
