(Sponsored Content) Retired veteran Darnell Tillett is from North Jersey and is a part-time driver for Uber.

"Initially, I drove full-time when I first started and I drove full-time for about a year, and then I started driving part-time as I picked up employment," Tillett told the New Jersey Business Daily.

Tillet said that he enjoyed driving for Uber and explained why he stayed on the job while being retired.

"I'm a veteran and I actually retired but I am too young to retire with two kids in college," Tillet said. "I went out and I got another job, and although I should stop Ubering – I really could – I really try to quit and I can't."

He also went on to discuss his income and the level of difficulty of the work.

"There was a point when I was driving and for about two years, I didn't have to touch my pension," Tillet said. "And so when you don't touch your pension for two years, that's a big deal. So I was able to save a lot of money."

Tillett explained how driving for Uber fits in with his schedule.

"When I'm on my way home (from work), I always look for Ubers," he said. "I do UberEats now; I always look for something going home, that way I can pick up a couple dollars and actually pay for dinner tonight for my family."

The flexibility of his schedule is another element of the job that Tillet enjoys.

"My schedule is so flexible," Tillet said. "I can do anything that my kids are doing. My youngest son plays football and so I catch all of his games. I pick him up from practice, I get him home, and if I decide to go out, I drop him off, then I go."

Tillet also liked the hours that he works.

"I work from 9-4 every day, so I get out right around dinner time," Tillet said. "I only do UberEats now, so I'm able to pick up a lot of business with people not wanting to go out or who are just too tired to go out. It's convenient for them, but it’s also convenient for me."
