(Sponsored Content) -- A part-time/full-time driver recently shared why he chose to work for Uber.

Christian Soto from Jersey Shore, N.J., said that flexibility is the most important reason that led him to choose to do gig work.

"I think the cool thing of this platform is you being able to pick and choose when you work and how you work and what you do, and have time to take care of other businesses, or just take care of family and stuff," Soto said.

Soto lived in Colombia for 18 years and used Uber while he was living abroad. When he returned to the States he decided to become an Uber driver himself to make some extra money as he got reacquainted to living in the U.S.

"I lived in Bogota, Colombia, for two and a half years," he said. "I never drove over there because it was so easy to just take Ubers everywhere and that's how I was introduced to Uber, actually by being a passenger.

"So I started driving with Uber and it helped me a lot to make some money and take care of my other businesses and also get reacquainted with everything because it had changed so much."

Soto balances his job as an Uber driver with his primary job in concrete restoration.

"I'll work as much as I can during the day," he said. "And when I don't have anything going on with my concrete, that's when I usually drive."

The flexibility to set his own schedule offers Soto time to spend with his family.

"In any case or any job that you can control your schedule, it's great to be around your kids and be able to participate in their lives," Soto said. "One of the things that I most like about Uber is the freedom of turning on and turning off whenever needed. I have three kids, so any money cannot stop coming in."
