People who are suffering from sinus issues may also have trouble sleeping comfortably, which could lead to other health issues.

Physicians from the Indianapolis Sinus Center say state-of-the-art treatments can reduce pain and get people back to sleeping normally in a matter of days.

"Sinusitis occurs when the linings of your nose, sinuses and throat become inflamed, possibly from a preexisting cold or allergies," Dr. Nicholas Hollenkamp told North Indy News. "Chronic sinusitis is when this inflammation lasts three months or more. We offer on-site diagnostic testing, including low-dose CT scan, to get a better look inside your sinus cavity and identify inflammation and signs of infection."

National Institutes of Health data shows that between 60 and 75% of chronic sinusitis sufferers are also experiencing poor sleep.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that chronic sinusitis affects 28.9 million American adults, or 11% of the adult population.

Doctors at the Indianapolis Sinus Center use minimally invasive procedures to help people who are having trouble sleeping and can't take time much away from work for treatment.

"Our philosophy is to provide the very best state-of-the-art care for chronic nasal and sinus problems, utilizing the latest minimally invasive technologies to allow for physiologic treatment and maintaining normal nasal function, as well as reduced pain and shorter recovery times," Dr. Anthony Sanders told North Indy News. "Typically people can be back to work within a few days after procedure."

In one study noted in the National Institutes of Health research, a large number of patients showed multiple chronic symptoms along with sleep impairment.

For sinus sufferers looking for assistance in getting a better night's sleep, the Indianapolis Sinus Center offers an online quiz to help figure out your next steps.
