Arizona Department of Revenue issued the following announcement on Dec. 29.

The Governor’s Office today announced that effective immediately, Rob Woods will serve as Interim Director of the Arizona Department of Revenue (DOR). Prior to this appointment, Woods served as the Deputy Director of the agency since January 2020.

“I’m grateful to Rob for stepping up to this important role during a challenging time for our state,” said Governor Doug Ducey. “He has helped lead the way in improving efficiency and operations, solving problems in the workplace, and training and mentoring state employees. His experience and dedication to helping others will serve the state well.”

Before joining DOR, Woods served as the Administrator of the Government Transformation Office (GTO) for eight years, an office which he helped found. As the Administrator of GTO, Woods was responsible for coaching and mentoring state executives as they implement a statewide operating system that builds a culture of daily improvement.

“I’m thankful to Governor Ducey for the opportunity to continue serving Arizonans in this new role,” said Woods. “We have a dedicated and talented team at DOR who work tirelessly to serve the Arizona taxpayers. I look forward to what’s ahead at the Department, and thank Director Woodruff and the team at DOR for the continued support.”

Prior to his service to state government, Woods was a vice president and engagement manager at JP Morgan Chase. In this role, Rob helped drive critical enterprise improvements across business divisions. Rob has also held roles in small business operations and information technology services.

Woods earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of San Diego and his MBA in Supply Chain Management from Arizona State University.
