Arts and cultural-based businesses and organizations have been some of the hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions that have been put in place as a result.

Organizations and institutions that provide art and cultural experiences for tourists and residents were on the receiving end of over $140,000 of a total of $10 million that was made available nationwide through the CARES Act.

State Rep. Chris May had this to say about the funding: "Brown County is one of the top tourist destinations in the state. While visitors are returning, the local arts and cultural scene has had a tough year, and many organizations still can’t fully reopen. These funds will help cover some of their losses."

It's clear that the arts and culture industry is a concern for lawmakers and legislators, as their is starting to become more funding available to ensure that these organizations are able to survive the pandemic.
