City of Buckeye recently issued the following announcement.

Students from age 11 to 20 can now enroll in the Environmental and Public Health Awareness workshop on Sat. March 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Coyote Library, 21699 W. Yuma Road.

Learn about air quality, water quality, solid waste, social awareness, sustainability and all of the various aspects that play a role in our public health.

This interactive, hands-on workshop will provide students with a better understanding of how each person can make a difference in their lives and the overall health of their community just by becoming more aware of your surroundings.

Each session is taught by some of the Valley’s most sought-after public health officials, who will also discuss exciting career paths available in the field of public health.

Scouts are encouraged to attend the workshop, which also provides an opportunity to earn the Public Health Merit Badge, one of the most difficult merit badges to earn.

Pre-registration is required and seating is limited.

To learn more and to register for the workshop, please visit buckeyeaz.gov/publichealthworkshop

The workshop is a collaborative effort from the city of Buckeye, Maricopa County Environmental Services, Maricopa County Health Department, Flood Control District of Maricopa County and Republic Services.
