Madison Chamber & Industrial Development issued the following announcement on Oct. 12.

Trick-or-treating hours have been set for the City of Madison this year. Traditional trick-or-treating will be held Wednesday, October 31 st from 6:00-8:00 P.M. As in past years, the Police Department encourages children and parents to wear brightly colored clothing for visibility in the dark. They also remind drivers to watch for children in neighborhoods and along roads.

The City of Madison has also scheduled the seventh consecutive year of Red, White, and BOO! This family-friendly Halloween party will return as the safe alternative to trick- or-treating on Wednesday, October 31 st , from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Brown Gymnasium. Last year, nearly 500 children ages 12 and under attended the event.

This year, Red, White and BOO! will feature a record number of game booths sponsored by local businesses and organizations that will provide games and candy for the children. As of today, we have 13 booths with games and activities like face painting and bowling. Community members of all ages are invited to enjoy the evening by dressing up and attending. Treat bags will be provided to all children ages 12 and under. An adult should accompany all children.

Partygoers will also have the opportunity to participate in a costume contest and win fun prizes! Like last year, the costume contest will include a photograph area, and voting will take place online through the City of Madison and Madison Observer Facebook pages.

Due to the generosity of our community in past years, Red, White, & BOO! has never made use of taxpayer dollars. The City would like to continue that trend this year.
