Tucson Metro Chamber issued the following announcement on Sept. 13.
Burns & McDonnell has opened an office in Tucson, Arizona, expanding its Arizona presence with plans for creating up to 25 new jobs by 2020. The firm opened its first Arizona office in Phoenix in 1999 and within the past six years it has grown by more than 300 percent.
The Tucson office is located at 33 S. Fifth Ave. in Pima County. Backed by an international team of more than 6,000, the Tucson team will help design and build critical facilities and infrastructure that powers the region — with a focus on power generation, mining, education, industrial, manufacturing and defense facilities. Throughout the past two decades, the firm has managed nearly $300 million in projects across Arizona for clients including ASARCO, Monsanto, Tucson International Airport and the University of Arizona.
“Tucson is a vibrant component of the regions continued growth,” said Patrick Edwards, vice president and general manager of Burns & McDonnell’s Arizona offices. “Our establishment of a local office is a reflection of our continued commitment to our clients, the community and our employees who have been the backbone of our success, and we’re excited to continue our momentum in developing comprehensive, sustainable solutions.”
Burns & McDonnell has tapped Brent Aleksich to lead the Tucson office. He joined the firm in 2009 as a senior electrical engineer and has nearly 15 years of experience in project management and design for facilities, healthcare, mining, water, wastewater and energy projects. Aleksich received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Montana State University and is an ambassador committee member for the Tucson Metro Chamber and a member of the Greater Tucson Leadership Class of 2019.
“It’s an exciting time for business growth in Tucson, and we are honored to be a part of the community,” Aleksich says. “Our best product is a strong, diverse team of professionals who can tackle the complex challenges our clients face. We look forward to further strengthening our team with top local talent and sharing our best-place-to-work culture that attracts and retains the best of the best.”
Burns & McDonnell is one of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For and has been recognized by more than 25 publications as a best place to work across the country, including the Arizona Republic and Phoenix Business Journal. The firm ranks among Engineering News-Record (ENR)’s top design firms in the U.S.
