Intel is finally ready to complete a Chandler plant it built and left vacant.
Intel CEO Brian Krzanich announced the news while visiting President Donald Trump at the White House.
The facility was left vacant when market conditions changed for the type of chip the company planned to make there. Krzanich said the company will invest $7 billion in the site and will also add 3,000 new jobs. The facility will make "the most advanced chips on the planet,” according to the CEO.
The new series of chips planned for the site will be made with ultra-small circuitry.
“This factory will produce the most powerful computer chips on the planet,” Krzanich said.
Most Intel chips are made in Oregon and Arizona, even though the company is based in Silicon Valley. Intel also has factories in China and Israel.
