As gas prices continue to rise, more and more Phoenicians are relying on public transportation to get around.

Phoenix-based Valley Metro was recently recognized at the 17th annual WTS Metropolitan Phoenix Scholarships and Awards Ceremony, where two of its transportation professionals received awards, WTS International said in a release.

Transdev has been awarded a five-year, $124.5 million contract to operate the East Valley, Northwest Valley and regional paratransit and Dial-A-Ride service programs.
