As more solar users sell their excess energy back to utility companies, the push for reform in Arizona's net metering policies by Tucson Electric Power and Arizona Public Service is just the first wave of likely changes on the horizon as the power industry struggles to balance the costs and benefits of solar energy.

Mineral mining, which makes up a major part of Arizona’s economy, saw only 17 fatalities nationwide in 2015, which was the safest year on record for mining in America, according to the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration.

Proponents of Proposition 123 have raised $1.75 million to open up more of Arizona’s land trust fund for sale to support education funding. 

Small businesses in Arizona want the state’s legislature to make the Copper State more welcoming to independent contractors in the coming year, the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) said. “We are declaring Arizona open for business when it comes to businesses that are able to use independent contractors,” NFIB State Director Farrell Quinlan told Arizona Business Daily.
