In response to President Trump's three new executive orders on artificial intelligence (AI), the Center for Data Innovation released a statement from Senior Policy Manager Hodan Omaar. The Trump administration has intensified its focus on AI, aiming to boost innovation domestically and promote American AI globally.
Domestically, one executive order aims to streamline the building of data center infrastructure by easing permitting processes, unlocking access to federal land, and ensuring efficient environmental reviews. Another order seeks to encourage AI firms to prioritize developing models that emphasize accuracy, scientific inquiry, and objectivity through financial incentives.
Internationally, the orders aim to strengthen U.S. exports of American AI technologies and standards by creating a comprehensive export program. This program will offer financing tools, diplomatic assistance, and technical resources.
These measures are intended to enhance the United States' competitiveness with China. Accelerating data center infrastructure development is expected to lower costs for American AI companies and allow the U.S. to engage in international deals focusing on reducing reliance on Chinese systems. By promoting U.S. AI exports and addressing foreign policies that hinder competitiveness, these orders aim to open more markets for U.S technology.
The executive orders indicate the Trump administration's commitment to achieving global AI leadership through concrete actions.
