Tim Cook CEO of Apple | Apple

Apple has announced an initiative to encourage Apple Watch users to close their Activity rings on April 24 in celebration of Global Close Your Rings Day. This initiative offers a special limited-edition award and animated stickers for Messages to those who achieve this goal. Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, emphasized the impact of the Apple Watch over the past decade: "Apple Watch has changed the way people think about, monitor, and engage with their fitness and health."

The Activity rings, which focus on Move, Exercise, and Stand goals, are designed to motivate users with daily fitness targets. This year, users are invited to share their achievements using the hashtag #CloseYourRings. Those who successfully close the rings will have the chance to receive a special pin available at Apple Store locations starting April 24, while supplies last.

Recent findings from the Apple Heart and Movement Study, conducted with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the American Heart Association, highlight the health benefits for those who regularly close their Activity rings. The study, which involves over 200,000 U.S. participants, indicates correlations between ring closure and improvements in sleep quality, lower heart rates, and reduced stress levels. Participants who frequently closed their rings showed a substantial decrease in the likelihood of experiencing poor sleep quality and elevated stress.

The Apple Watch offers more than just Activity rings; its features also include advanced workout tracking, health monitoring, and privacy protection. Users can track various activities via the Workout app, monitor heart health, and manage wellness aspects like sleep and stress. Apple ensures user privacy through encryption and secured data storage across devices and iCloud.
