Key strategies include the use of lower-carbon concrete, mass-timber components, and energy-efficient systems across its facilities. These efforts are part of Amazon's commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 under The Climate Pledge.
At the Amazon Air Hub near Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, the company has installed a solar array expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 400 average homes annually. This project underscores Amazon’s focus on renewable energy and its broader goal of reducing emissions at logistics facilities.
Amazon is collaborating with suppliers, government agencies, and organizations like the Department of Energy to develop sustainable materials and technologies. The company is also investing through the Climate Pledge Fund in startups that focus on decarbonizing essential materials such as concrete and steel. It continues to expand renewable energy projects and share resources, including its building decarbonization guide.
