Three years ago, Amazon and the National Safety Council (NSC) partnered to address musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), a leading cause of injuries across various industries. As part of this collaboration, Amazon donated $12 million for NSC to develop an MSD Solutions Lab.
According to an article published in Amazon’s News’ Workplace channel, experts from the public, private, academic, government, and non-profit sectors have collaborated on preventive solutions, new technologies, and research around MSDs through this initiative.
At the core of the partnership is the MSD Pledge. Over 200 companies have signed the pledge committing to reduce MSDs within their own organizations by 2025.
The Amazon article features an eight-minute video providing a behind-the-scenes tour of Amazon’s largest operations site in Cincinnati, Ohio. Joined by NSC representatives, the video focuses on safety practices at the facility.
According to the NSC website, the National Safety Council is a nonprofit dedicated to advocating for safety. For over a century, it has worked to eliminate leading causes of preventable death and injury. Two primary focus areas are workplace and roadway safety.
