Sponsored Content — When part-time Uber driver Gyula a.k.a. Julius Moldvan lost his mother six years ago, he started driving as a way to pay for an inherited house and a mortgage.

Moldvan graduated with a degree in cybersecurity, but began driving as a way to determine if he was going to be good at customer service. While he spends part of his days driving for the ride-hailing company, the remainder is taken up working full-time for UPS and spending time with his wife of 17 years.

“For me, Uber was just going to be like a part-time gig anyway, just to make extra money and pay off things I needed to pay off at all. I was never going to do it full time,” Moldvan told the Washington D.C. Business Daily.

But one of the unexpected surprises has been the socialization aspect. “I mean, I've met some great people,” he said.

With COVID-19 concerns rampant across the country in the last year, Moldvan said he felt safer making a switch to food delivery. In July 2020, he returned to the task of taking on passengers, though he still does food delivery through Uber Eats.

While the flexibility of scheduling is a main attraction to the job, Moldvan said he has chosen to work nights based on personal preference.

Another benefit of the job, he said, is being able to help others reach their destinations safely.

“I’d rather not see someone get a DUI or DWI or (do) some kind of harm to someone else or crash their car,” Moldvan said. “Car services have been around for 30 plus years, so it's not something of a new idea.”
