Randolph County recently received a $250,000 grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs for small businesses, according to State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City).
Loans can be distributed from Randolph County to small businesses to assist with the reopening, restocking, and paying for technology for individuals to work remotely.
"Hoosier small businesses have certainly been feeling the financial stress caused by this pandemic. We understand rural communities and local employers are key to our economy bouncing back, and this additional funding will help several businesses throughout Randolph County as they work hard to succeed and overcome challenges they are facing,” Prescott said in a press release from the Indiana House of Republicans.
Prescott announced that 42 rural communities received the second round of funding and that over $20 million has been distributed to counties, cities, and towns to cover expenses such as payroll and operation costs for businesses that were negatively impacted by COVID-19.
Funding comes from the federal CARES Act that was passed after the coronavirus struck.
