A grassroots movement that promotes food and products made in Indiana marked its fifth anniversary with a lawmaker recognizing the milestone.
State Rep. Alan Morrison (R-Brazil) was instrumental in the passage of the legislation six years ago that brought forth Indiana Grown. Morrison said over 1,600 farms and businesses that grow, raise, produce, or process agriculture items within Hoosier State lines participate in the continuously growing program.
Indiana Grown consists of farmers, producers, processors, artisans, retailers, grocers and restaurants.
“Supporting our local and state agriculture industry is crucial at a time when we're working to keep our economy moving in the right direction,” Morrison said in a press release from his office. “In just five years, Indiana Grown has become a huge marketplace where Hoosiers can easily find homemade products where they live and shop.”
The lawmaker encourages Hoosiers to visit indianagrown.org to learn more about the program. Membership for the program is free.
