The U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Association (EDA) is awarding $852,000 in grant funds to the city of Yuma, Arizona, for constructing a sewer system that will serve an industrial area.
The grant, which will be matched with $213,000 in city funds, will generate an estimated 500 jobs and $50 million in private investment.
“Helping our communities by providing the vital infrastructure businesses need to be successful is a top priority for President (Donald) Trump,” Dana Gartzke, performing the delegated duties of the assistant secretary of Commerce for Economic Development, said in a press release from the EDA. “This project will provide the necessary sewer system infrastructure for an industrial area in Yuma to be fully operational. It will also support new industry in the community and accommodate existing businesses’ expansion plans.”
The U.S. Economic Development Association is aimed at preparing the nation's regions for growth and success in the world economy. The EDA makes investments in economically disadvantaged communities in order to create jobs, promote American innovation and accelerate sustainable economic growth.
