Marion-Grant County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 9.

Home Helpers Home Care has moved to a new office to better serve the residents of Marion and surrounding communities.

Owners Bob and Aimee Hartwiger have been in the home care business since 1999. It all started with Bob’s realization that his aging parents could use some help in his absence.

“I moved 700 miles away from my parents to attend Grace College in Winona Lake, IN. Throughout the years, when I would go back to visit on holidays, it was easy to see with each return that my parents needed more and more care. It was upsetting to me that I was not able to be there to help them,” Bob Hartwiger explains. “My father graduated from high school at 14. He was the smartest man I had ever known. His aging process was shocking to me — how was this brilliant man forgetting simple things like paying his bills each month?”

It was this realization, coupled with Bob’s passion for serving people developed by his 27-year tenure in the restaurant industry, that motivated him to start a Home Helpers franchise to assist the aging population in his Warsaw, Indiana community, eventually expand in to the Ft. Wayne area, and on May 1st of this year made the decision to expand once again by taking over the existing office in Marion.

“Not all seniors belong in an assisted-living home. Most just need a little extra aid: reminded to take their medications, driven to their doctors’ appointments, and entertained in their own homes,” he said. “They just need some extra help and care. And that’s where we come in.”

Home Helpers employs a team of trained caregivers to offer seniors, those recovering from illness or injury, and new moms, strictly non-medical services such as transportation, cooking, bathing, cleaning, running errands, wake-up calls, medication reminders, companionship, care management, and the use of Direct Link, their emergency response system. All caregivers receive thorough training and background checks before working with clients.

Bob and Aimee, along with their highly trained office staff, Sue Summers and Moriah Young, create customized care plans to assist each client. They can also provide information on veteran care benefits. All consultations are free. Their new Marion office is located at 1125 North Baldwin Avenue. The staff can be reached by calling the office at (765) 677-1670, or by email at bhartwiger@homehelpershomecare.com., summers@homehelpershomecare.com, or myoung@homehelpershomecare.com. Please visit our website at www.homehelpershomecare.com/Marion.

“We’re committed to helping people live happier, more fulfilled lives. The bottom line is that we do whatever we can to make our clients’ lives easier,” said Bob Hartwiger.

Come join us for the ribbon cutting, a tour of the new office, some great food and gifts, and a chance to meet the Home Helpers staff. Looking forward to meeting all of you.

This is a come-and-go Open House event scheduled from 11:00 – 6:30 on Thursday, October 24th. We hope to see you there!
