Indiana State University issued the following announcement on May 7

Indiana State University graduates and their loved ones should expect a few differences to commencement on May 11 as Hulman Center undergoes a $50 million upgrade.

Built in 1973, Hulman Center remains the preferred location host commencement -- despite its renovations -- because of the venue's immense capacity. Air-conditioning will be operational during the event, but weather conditions such as heat and humidity could affect attendees' comfort.

Guests should use the west, south and east entrances to Hulman Center. Attendees who use a wheelchair or have mobility limitations should enter through the west and south doors. Cherry Street is designated as the handicapped-accessible drop-off and pick-up location.

The north side of Hulman Center will only be an emergency exit, as the facility's north concourse is closed and the sidewalk is under construction.

Restrooms will be available at Hulman Center's southwest and northeast locations.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, faculty marshals will lead graduates to the quad in the center of campus, where they will meet loved ones. Guests are asked to exit Hulman Center after the event and walk to the quad to meet their graduates. Re-entry will not be allowed.

Employees are encouraged to park on west side of campus, which will enable them to exit campus more quickly.

Morning commencement exercises include the College of Arts and Sciences, Bayh College of Education and Scott College of Business, with the processional starting at 9:45 a.m. Afternoon exercises include the colleges of Health and Human Services and Technology, with the processional starting at 2:45 p.m.

Improvements to Hulman Center include replacing outdated mechanical and electrical systems and the failing exterior metal panel cladding and curtain walls. A second, larger elevator is being added, and updates to safety systems for fire suppression and key areas of the existing catwalk above the bowl area are also underway.
