Attorney General Mark Brnovich, up for re-election Nov. 6, pointed out some allegations against his Democrat opponent, January Contreras, in a new digital ad.

“January Contreras did nothing as Arizona veterans were abused and neglected,” the ad begins. “And now, she’s sold out to a California billionaire who is spending millions in vicious smears and outright lies.”

Contreras was reprimanded for knowing of patient abuse and neglect at a state-run veteran’s home when she served in former Gov. Janet Napolitano’s administration, according to a separate TV ad from the Republican Attorneys General Association. The ad states Contreras, while serving in former Gov. Janet Napolitano’s administration, oversaw the facility, which was “riddled with patient abuse, including veterans soiled in their own urine,” according to RAGA. 

She is also criticized in the ad for accepting campaign money from San Francisco billionaire Tom Steyer. Forbes magazine describes Steyer as an environmental activist who’s actively seeking President Trump’s impeachment.

“January Contreras: neglecting our vets, sold to the highest bidder,” the ad continues. “I'm Mark Brnovich, as your attorney general, I fought to protect veterans. I've locked up child predators, and I stood up for Arizona consumers without compromise.”
