Social media users recently blasted January Contreras following her debate with Mark Brnovich, stating the Democratic Attorney General candidate appeared too partisan and waivered on too many issues.
"[Mark Brnovich] knocked it out of the park today. Exposed his opponent as a partisan who'd cater to special interest groups. "My opponent may want to side with @TomSteyer, a California billionaire who's financing her campaign, but I want to side with Arizonians," Brian Anderson (@AZBrianAnderson) posted to Twitter.
"This is a cop out by @JanuaryAZ which represents all that is wrong with politics today. She wants to make herself judge, jury and executioner on which laws get defended and which laws get rejected based on her personal political whims," Aaron Baer (@aarbaer) wrote.
"'You want an attorney general to consistently fight for the rule of law. I said I was going to push back against federal overreach and that's what I've done,' @GeneralBrnovich says. 'My opponent is all over the board,'" Maria Polletta (@mpolletta) posted.
"Clear difference between candidates tonight. Brnovich "yes" because that's the AG's job; Contreras "no" if she thought it wasn't right," Ted Simons (@tedatpbs) wrote.
Brnovich also used the opportunity to garner more support by drawing attention to his opponent's weakness during the debate.
"There is a clear difference between me and my Democratic opponent. I will defend the law regardless of my personal or political beliefs. My opponent will pick and choose which laws she will defend based upon her party affiliation," he posted.
