The Maricopa Public Library (MPL) will be working with Unique Management Services (UMS) in an effort to recover some of the thousands of dollars the library says it is owed in account fines and fees. 

The collection service will go live this week and will attempt to collect fines or fees that are over 60 days past due or which are $60 or more.

"Currently, the accounts with fines/fees that exceed 60 days past due represents just 4 percent of active members," the MPL said in a news release.  "Prior attempts to collect have been made by MPL staff via email, phone, and letters sent to members with delinquent accounts. Use of UMS is seen as a last resort to obtain the fees owed to MPL."

MPL members can return items to the library to avoid being referred to UMS and MPL will charge a $15 fine to patrons who are referred to UMS to collect fees.

MPL members can visit the library on West Smith-Enke Road or log onto their account at https://catalog.pinalcountyaz.gov/polaris/logon.aspx to check on any late fees.
