The City of Buckeye has named former Peoria deputy director of public works and 30-year public/private utility industry veteran Michael Weber as its new water resources director. 

“I’m looking forward to working closely with the professionals in Buckeye’s Water Resources Department, city staff and the residents of Buckeye,” Weber, who will assume the post on June 25, said in a statement. “The department has accomplished a great deal in the past few years, and I am confident I can continue contributing to their success.”

Weber, who holds a masters in business administration from Arizona State University, has worked in both the public and private utility industry in the areas of water/wastewater operations, regulatory compliance, utility development, finance, engineering and customer service. 

His experience includes  serving as deputy director of water services for the City of Glendale and as Algonquin Water Services' general manager. Weber also served as general manager for the Community Water Co of Green Valley. 

Weber is a registered professional engineer and holds Grade Four certifications from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality in water distribution, wastewater collection, water treatment and wastewater treatment.
