The Cochise County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved a license agreement that lets the City of Bisbee continue to use part of Melody Lane Complex for a monthly fee of $4,500.
The agreement is open-ended but requires a 30-day notice if the city wants to move or if the county needs the space.
Bisbee initially began using the building’s vacant offices after a fire destroyed Bisbee City Hall last October last year. Cochise County immediately offered its offices, which let the city continue to function.
County Administrator Ed Gilligan said Bisbee’s use of the offices was “not designed to be a profitable agreement” but instead an opportunity to support the city.
The agreement will be sent to the City of Bisbee for approval by its Council. The city is also weighing other options for a permanent location.
