Patrick McDermott, community relations manager for Arizona Public Service and the Cleveland Indians, has been named the City of Goodyear's Citizen of the Year and Corporate Citizen of the Year.

The announcement was made by Mayor Georgia Lord at the Jan. 22 City Council meeting, saying McDermott has displayed a “pragmatic approach to problem-solving and outstanding leadership.”

He has lived in Goodyear for 11 years and been the Southwest Valley's liaison to APS since 2011. He has been on a city advisory committee and supported the Luke Air Force Base, Leadership West, and the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The Cleveland Indians have been a part of Goodyear since 2008 and have taken steps to develop the city and the Greater Southwest Valley, inspiring baseball fans in the process. These investments have led the city to become “a premier destination for spring training fans and a caring community for residents.”
