Until March 1, the Coconino County tax assessor’s office is accepting applications for the Widow/Widower and Disability Property Tax Exemption Programs.

Although these programs are designed to benefit widows, widowers and individuals with disabilities, certain income limitations apply. The income qualifications for this year are $32,447 as an individual or $38,926 as a household. However, VA benefits, Social Security and similar sources are not included in calculating income.

In addition to meeting the income and property qualifications, the assessor’s office, headed by Armando Ruiz, has indicated other application guidelines.

For the Widow/Widower Exemption, the applicant must be an Arizona resident who came to Arizona before 1969 or lived in Arizona with his or her spouse at the time of death.

For the Disability Exemption, the applicant must be at least 18 years old and be certified as 100 percent totally and permanently disabled by a doctor.

For more information, contact the assessor’s office toll free at 877-679-7120, visit the assessor’s office at 110 E. Cherry Ave. in downtown Flagstaff, or visit a Mobile Service Day location.
