In response to concerns over potential lead contamination, the City of Tucson and local agency partners have developed the Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Program (LHCP).
The LHCP aims to identify and remediate owner-occupied, residential housing that has been found to contain lead paint hazards. Due to the importance of this work, the City of Tucson has partnered with the Arizona Department of Health Services.
The Arizona Department of Health Services has created a map to help residents identify if they live in a high-risk area. The Arizona Department of Health Services urges Tuscon families in these high-risk areas to test their children for lead paint exposure.
The LHCP coalition focuses on lead-based paints and studies the various physiological effects on young children under 6.
