Gov. Doug Ducey has designated February “Career and Technical Education Month,” which recognizes Arizona’s efforts to prepare its students for jobs in the modern economy.

In a proclamation, Ducey spoke of the importance of the various programs that allow Arizona students to pursue school-to-career education pathways.

“Arizona is already a leader in bringing together businesses with schools and higher education to design practical early college and career pathways," he said. "We will continue to focus on equipping all Arizona students with the in-demand skill sets that will enable them to succeed in the 21st-century economy.”

In January, Ducey and several business and education leaders announced an expansion of a public-private partnership, known as Pathways to Prosperity, that will give more Arizona students opportunities for quality work-based learning.

Ducey’s Executive Budget also includes $2 million to fund large Joint Technical Education Districts. Overall, Ducey’s 2019 budget calls for $400 million in new spending for K-12 public schools and students.
