Out of 1,600 entrants, the Town of Marana recently received the Government Finance Officers Association's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2017-18 budget.
The award represents the high principles of budgeting of the Marana Town Council and the town's staff. The award had several nationally recognized guidelines, with 14 mandatory criteria, to determine how well the budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.
The most recent award recipients and their budget documents are posted quarterly on GFOA's website. Award recipients help improve budgeting standards across North America.
