Arizona's Superintendent of Public Instruction Diane Douglas recently appointed Glendale Elementary School District's director of maintenance and operations Gregory Gilliam as her designee to the Arizona School Facilities Board. 

“I am proud to appoint Mr. Gilliam as my designee,” Douglas said in a press release. “As a current director of maintenance and operations at a school district, he will be bringing a frontline perspective to School Facility Board decisions. I look forward to having him as my eyes and ears on the board.”

Gilliam, who has served as the director of maintenance and operations for the Glendale Elementary School District for the past four years, is an Army veteran who served in the 82nd Airborne Infantry out of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He previously served in various facilities management capacities for the City of Phoenix. He holds a bachelor of science in applied management from Grand Canyon University.

“It is my honor to serve as Superintendent Douglas’ designee to the board,” Gilliam said in a statement. “I am excited to bring first-hand knowledge of district needs for the board’s consideration.”

The Arizona School Facilities Board is made up of nine members who are appointed by the governor and state superintendent of public instruction. Board members are responsible for administering three capital funds: building renewal, deficiencies renewal and new school facilities.
