Passengers at Tucson International Airport (TIA) will see several upgrades and additional flights as the airport continues to see an increase in air travel, with 2.4 million passengers being recorded for 2017 as of the end of October.

TIA has now marked 15 months of continued traveler increase and a 5 percent increase in air travel for 2017 thus far.

The Tucson Airport Authority has said airlines will be meeting the significant increase in passengers with upgrades to larger aircraft and the addition of new flights. The new flights include Alaska Airlines offering nonstop service to San Jose, which it began in August.

Sun Country Airlines has announced it will offer three weekly nonstop flights between Tucson and Minneapolis/St. Paul beginning in December.

According to a report in the Tucson Star, several other airlines such as United, Delta and Southwest will also be adding flight service and aircraft in and out of Tucson over the next two months.
