The Bressler-Alpert Society, which funds travel for University of Arizona (UA) residents and fellows to present their findings at conferences, have presented Dr. Francisco Mora with a Travel Award, UA College of Medicine –Tucson reported.

Mora is a resident with the UA Internal Medicine Residency Program – South Campus. He received his medical degree at the Universidad de Cuenca Facultad de Ciencias Medicas in Ecuador.

Mora will present his project, "Clinical Outcomes of Venomous Snakebites in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest after Implementation of a National Protocol," at the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, on Nov. 5-9 in Baltimore.

Additionally, Dr. Norman Beatty, the first Travel Award recipient of the academic year, will present three projects at the Infectious Diseases Society of America ID Week 2017 Oct. 4-8 in San Diego. He will present “Appropriateness of a Rapid Multiplex Gastrointestinal Panel in the Investigation of Suspected Infectious Diarrhea at an Academic Medical Center,” “Seasonal Influenza Vaccine Availability at Urgent Care Centers in the State of Arizona, USA” and “Rapid Multiplex Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel Testing Improved Antibiotic Stewardship in Patients with Suspected Infectious Diarrhea Compared to Conventional Methods.”

Beatty received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson, the institution reported.
