An Arizona Association of Realtors executive gave members an update on the organization’s current legislative efforts, which included reviewing over 1,000 pieces of legislation affecting the real estate industry.

Nicole LaSlavic, vice president of government affairs, recently spoke at the group’s 2017 caucus about the organization’s legislative priorities.

LaSlavic discussed four main bills that the association was involved with over the past year. Those included bills regarding real estate licensing and exemptions, real estate transaction for manufactured homes, the incorporation of urbanized areas and a bill dealing with forcible entries, according to a press release.

LaSlavic also discussed the organization’s plans for the legislative session, which include Arizona’s water laws and the policies and practices regarding the Colorado River and groundwater issues, sign ordinances for municipalities and the state’s funding of K-12 and higher education through possible property tax increases.

Legislation regarding homeowner associations (HOA) will also be addressed by the association, according to LaSlavic. Although there is a lot of legislation relating to HOAs, the organization said it thinks that number will decline due to Gov. Doug Ducey’s stance on not micromanaging HOAs.

The Arizona Association of Realtors is the largest trade association in the state with over 40,000 members.
