Corralling potential panaceas, the McLife Tucson apartment community will partner with Tucson RoundUp for a Cure to raise funds and public awareness of cystic fibrosis with auctions, music and entertainment.

The event will take place from 6:45-11 p.m. Saturday at Old Tucson Studios, 201 Kinney Road. 

VIP tickets or sponsorships are available, according to a press release. With a VIP ticket, people can attend a 6 p.m. reception with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, music and a gift bag. 

RoundUp for a Cure is an annual occurrence sponsored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s (CFF) Southern Arizona Office. Each year, the organization acknowledges one community member for exemplary dedication to volunteer causes; 2017’s gala will honor Richard Luebke Jr., who serves as chairman of the board for Pima Medical Institute.

Luebke will be recognized for his commitment to helping others. CFF described him as a man who “pays it forward.” Cystic fibrosis is a pulmonary disease affecting lung function; as a one-time runner, Luebke stated that he appreciates the critical importance of breathing.

“When you can't get a full breath nothing else matters," Luebke said. "I want to see an end of this terrible disease as soon as possible, but in the mean time we can bring comfort and improvement to their lives through ongoing research."
