The Pima County Ending Poverty Now Program will host the first in a series of workshops next month that will shed light on the challenges faced by those affected by poverty.

The Ending Poverty Now Program will host “Understanding Poverty: Why Poverty Matters to Our Community” next month, which is designed for organizations and people who work with those in poverty.

The workshop, which will be held on Sept. 5 at the Abrams Public Health Center, will be led by Bonnie Bazata, Ending Poverty Now Program manager. Workshop participants will examine the economic class and its impact on both individuals and institutions. The workshops will also feature the “Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin’ By World” national curriculum. The curriculum is designed to provide tools for those who are don't have enough resources to stabilize, build resources and take charge of their lives.

“Understanding Poverty means understanding the impact of chronic instability, scarcity, and stress, as well as how environments and systems impact the larger picture,” Bazata said in a press release.
