About 150 people came together recently to contribute input regarding Cochise County's Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). 

The community meetings are now available for public viewing.

The gatherings were devised by the Cochise Healthy Communities Coalition. The group is dedicated to getting CHIP finished by this summer. CHIP is meant to "outline a strategic action plan to provide overall guidance and direction for community health and other related projects throughout Cochise County," according to the Cochise County website.

The meetings focused on what should be included in CHIP, and the main issues discussed included mental health and substance abuse; jobs and a healthy economy; and healthy eating, diabetes and obesity.

Partners involved with CHIP include Arizona At Work, BeHealthy!Sierra Vista, Benson Hospital, Canyon Vista Medical Center, Cenpatico Integrated Care, Child & Family Resources, Chiricahua Community Health Centers, Cochise College of Nursing, Cochise Housing Authority, Cochise Public Fiduciary, Cochise Rentry Coalition, Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, Copper Queen Hospital, County Board of Supervisors, County Board of Health and Easterseals Blake Foundation.
